From the factory the trucks came with the gas tank
behind the seat. Not very practical today, I plan to move the gas tank
under the bed. The plan was either to french in a radio antenna in the
opening or shave it. I went with the latter. The area once occupied by
the gas tank will now house my subwoofer enclosure.
Here you can see the gas opening welded up. Since this
photo body filler has been applied and primer covers the area. Not much
more to say about this, once the truck is painted you'll never be able
to tell the fuel filler neck was here.
There was a pretty sizeable gap along the edge of the
door and the front of the cab. Instead of just filling in the cab and
leaving everything else alone we decided to radius the edge of the door.
In keeping with the smooth look to my cab, we took the normally pointy,
90 degree angle and rounded it over. Material had to be added to the cab
where the two met. Most people will never notice this, but some of the
best modifications are the ones that are so subtle that only the most
die hard person would notice.
Here is a shot with the door open. Since this picture
more bodywork has been done and a coat of primer shot. Also pointed out
in a prior section there normally is a body line on the cab where it is
ground down. This was also welded in and smoothed. The buzz word for my
truck is smooth smooth smooth, heh.
